Deeptime Vision for a Brighter Future

Paula Robear and Laura Lee of the Cuyamungue Institute interview Jennifer Morgan

“Deep time” refers to the concept of geological or cosmological time spans that are extremely vast, often on the order of millions or billions of years. In contemplating the human story within the broader context of deep time, we gain a humbling perspective that underscores the impermanence and interconnectedness of all things in the grand tapestry of the universe. “We greatly expand our sense of self, our bandwidth, our comfort level, our sense of belonging, our gratitude for this magnificent universe, when we understand it in this largest context — the 14 billion years the universe had to come to this moment. To create us, to create a creature to behold this magnificent, and delight in what is emerging as our guiding light.” says Laura Lee.

“And this is why we are delighted to sit down with Jennifer, Morgan, who is helping make this grand vision, of our world and our place in it come alive.” Jennifer Morgan’s inspiring life story on creating forums and building community all around her quest: to make accessible and relevant the emerging new view of our world as a planetary nervous system in an evolving, interconnected universe with its unique community of life. This fosters “the understanding, belonging, inspiration, decision-making and more, to engage with a shared vision for a brighter future.

Working with others, in a spirit of generosity and mutual respect, we want to help build a world where all people can lead-free and dignified lives,” she says. Jennifer Morgan is an award-winning author, storyteller, and educator. Inspired by the work of Teilhard de Chardin, Maria Montessori, Thomas Berry, and Brian Swimme, her Universe Story Trilogy is used in childhood classrooms around the world in Cosmic Education Curriculum, and for adults to explore these concepts, she founded the Deeptime Network. She is Vice President of the American Teilhard Association.
