Sins of the Spirit, Blessings of the Flesh: An Exploration of Evil
Matthew Fox explores in this book our traditional perceptions of good and evil by
offering a groundwork with a more enlightened treatment of ourselves and of nature.
In it he explores evil as “misdirected love” and applies parallels between the 7 chakras
of the East with the West’s teaching of seven capital sins.
In this new dawning of Aquarius, we have to have a more stout response to evil which
has come out from hiding and confronts us more directly.
In this class, we will explore as a community the concepts of evil as delineated by Fox
and bring them into the 21st century classroom. Whereas this class was not part of
Fox’s original five mandatory classes for a degree, we have been compelled to add it.
Part of our challenge in this day and age is the open almost flagrant expression of evil
that requires an updated response from us most importantly as a community. Evil is
best addressed in community.
