Storytelling:  Cosmogenesis, Vaudeville, and Christology

I’m writing my story so that others might see fragments of themselves – Lena Waithe

[What follows is a look back at Earth’s history 150 years from now. It’s an imaginative account written by a time-traveler from the future who returned to report his views on origin stories earthlings once told themselves. Upon examining their basic assumptions, especially those in religion and science, his look back comments on the stories and truths that stood the test of time, those that didn’t, and why.]

Once upon a time, around 150 years ago, Earth was a planet populated by people that liked to create, tell, and listen to stories. These stories were created mostly to teach, inform, or entertain. There were true stories, make-believe stories, and stories in-between. At the time, the human species didn’t know where it came from, why it was here, and where it was going. And so, a certain number of its inquisitive inhabitants earnestly searched for answers, mostly by studying myths, legends, religion, astrology, the sciences, and the cumulative stories that developed from them.

During that searching period human minds were curiously restless, looking for patterns and themes that had order, and in stories that had a resolution to their individual and collective tensions; stories that endured and had coherence; stories with a beginning, middle, and end; wisdom stories that passed the test of time; stories that joined them to something greater than themselves; stories that went beyond entertaining, and more than the sum of their joys and sorrows; stories that connected them with others of their kind, with nature, and cosmic history toward a shared meaning. And finally, stories that were witnesses to the next generation about relationship and community that touched hearts and reached far beyond daily survival routines. These were sacred stories of healing, hope, and wholeness, and something of the spirit that vibrates in the best of them, and the rest of them at their best.

Sometimes Earth storytelling was the art of weaving something false, untrue, or half-true so beautifully that others came to accept it as true, even though on closer examination it wasn’t. Back then, there were eight basic kinds of stories people liked to tell, stories having to do with (1) Origins, (2) Rags to Riches, (3) The Quest, (4) Voyage and Return, (5) Rebirth, (6) Comedy, (7) Tragedy, and (8) Overcoming the Monster (Bad guy). Some Earth stories had happy endings, others had unhappy endings, and some had a little of both. Few stories had neither. Earth’s storytelling began with visual stories such as cave drawings, then shifted to oral traditions in which stories were passed down across generations by word of mouth.

In ancient Greece around the 5th century B.C., live theater provided the kind of dramatic expression that for the first time allowed spectators to see themselves and their lives via the characters and themes of a play’s storyline. Prior to the printed word, medieval poet-musicians (troubadours) traveled from town to town, creating the first repertories of vernacular story songs. There was then a shift to words formed into stories that were written, printed, typed, and later filmed, passing down myths, legends, and histories of all kinds to future generations. Autobiographies were stories people told about themselves. Biographies were stories people told about others. Cosmology stories, those of the mythological, religious, and scientific kind were stories people told about the origin, history, and structure of the universe.

Overall, cosmology stories viewed God (a purposive, self-organizing force of some kind) as the cause of all that exists, or the ultimate explanation for existence. As such, cosmology stories asserted that the existence and activity of this force could be inferred from the facts a posteriori (after the fact), a kind of reasoning that works backward from an effect to its cause(s). This kind of reasoning can sometimes lead to false conclusions, because it relies on the flawed perception and thought of humankind, independent of experience, such as theories, concepts, and untestable hypotheses. Many regarded religious cosmologies (stories) as of this kind, based less on fact than word of mouth legend. Although later, as this historical narrative reveals, so-called scientific cosmologies became equally or more suspect than those of religion and mythology, and subsequently were disregarded as unfounded.

Earth’s oldest recorded story is that of Gilgamesh, a poem about a king by the same name who ruled in ancient Mesopotamia about 3300 years ago. In the poem, Gilgamesh went out to seek life everlasting so that he didn’t have to die but failed to find it on his journey. Such was the hallmark of most storytelling created by earthlings for thousands of years, a search for meaning, and a solution to the anxieties, fears, and conflicts mortals were troubled by in self, other, and daily living. At the time, humanity did not know that their origin stories, and with-them deeper meaning and immortality (spiritual consciousness) didn’t reside in a particular creed, geographical location, cultural myth, or brick and mortar church, temple, mosque, or synagogue; nor did it hinge on various scientific or philosophical theories. Rather, it lay undiscovered, hidden within themselves in ways that had been overlooked from the outset.

Old storytellers never die. They disappear into their own story – Vera Nazarian

Among the many comedy stories recorded in film, fourteen in all, were made by five brothers by the last name of Marx: Chico, Harpo, Groucho, Gummo, and Zeppo. Those names weren’t their original names, they were stage names adopted by performers in an entertainment world called Vaudeville. As for the Marx Brothers, their real names were, in order, Leonard, Adolph, Julius, Milton, and Zeppo. Groucho, the most well-known of the brothers, had a first name of Julius. Likewise, Vaudeville wasn’t a real town or city, but the name of a type of entertainment popular in the USA early in the 20th century, consisting of a mixture of specialty songs, dance, and comedy acts called burlesque. At the time, comedy on Earth didn’t arise much from genuine laughter, as it did from tragedy, and tragic times, often brought on by people themselves owing to an absence of higher levels of consciousness that in ages past were uncommon in the masses. At times, comedy even made people laugh and cry at the same time, revealing both the origin, paradox, and prevalence of tragic circumstances on Earth. Tragedy is the sleeping but active partner of comedy, one reason why comedy, slapstick, and burlesque became so popular in hard times, especially during Earth’s Great Depression.

The Marx brothers were all born in NYC between 1887 and 1901 to Miene (“Minnie”) Schoenberg, and Samuel (“Frenchy’) Marx, immigrants from Germany and France who were also stage performers. As ranked by Tomato meter in the early 21st century, the top ranked of the Marx Brothers comedy films, in order, were as follows: 1) A Night at the Opera, 2) Duck Soup, 3) At the Circus, 4) Horse Feathers, 5) Animal Crackers, 6) Cocoanuts, 7) A Day at the Races, 8) Monkey Business, 9) Go West, 10) Room Service, 11) The Big Store, 12) A Night in Casablanca, and 13) Love Happy.

Two of the most popular of Earth’s origin stories (cosmologies) were the Creation Story and the Evolution story. Both stories are summarized, compared, and contrasted in what follows.

Among the many of Earth’s origin stories popular in the western world was the Creation Story told by an ancient book, the Bible. This book is a collection of 66 books that began by telling a story of how the universe and Earth were made, one of many origin stories told cross-culturally having a beginning, middle, and end. The first book of the Bible is called Genesis, an ancient cosmology story about how all things were made and came to be. The word Genesis means “beginnings,” from which were derived the words “genetics,’ “generate” and “generator.” The first chapter of Genesis describes how a Creator God made everything that was made merely by speaking it into existence (sound), and from the intense light of the Big Bang moment, where God said, Let there be light (Let light Be). According to Genesis, God spoke and what he said happened in eight different stages. Beginning with the words Let there be light, these stages are marked in Genesis chapter 1 by nine separate words God spoke, each one introduced by the words, “And then God said .  .  .”  According to the Book of Genesis, God accomplished creating all things by no other means, and for no other reason or cause than he desired them to happen, and by the spoken Word (sound). Early in the 20th century scientists like Einstein and other physicists discovered that sound and light were indeed the primary constituents of the universe, how it was made, operates, and came to be, material creation being comprised basically of slowed-down sound and light waves. Later chapters in the Bible revealed that all things that God made connect to and embed in their Source organically (by Spirit or ruach, = breath”), as branch attaches to and articulates a central vine by drawing its very life and being from it. In ancient post-Abrahamic religions, God was not envisioned as equal part male and female (androgynous), but as male only. By contrast, in pre-Abrahamic cultures all deities were female.

As a species, earthlings in ancient, modern and post-modern times hadn’t yet begun to understand themselves, to say nothing of understanding the mystery of their cosmic origins. It was only after a remnant of them first awakened to the reality of the mystery of themselves more deeply that they were able to comprehend the universal mystery of all things beyond themselves. That is, upon realizing the limitations of the empirical, behavioral, and social sciences in shedding light on self-knowledge, they became acutely aware of their self-imposed ontological and epistemological dilemmas. Psychology and the social sciences helped with that, but not in ways that lent ultimate meaning to their lives by answering the big questions. So they turned to the elders of their generation, a silent minority whose wisdom they discovered far exceeded what science, mythologies, and creeds had to offer.

Elders in every culture are people of the future, champions of the earth with a passion for tomorrow. Knowing that the arc of arriving at truth is long, their accumulated wisdom shows people their mistakes before they make them. Upon consulting these elders, it became clear that reforms had to begin with the young in families and schools. This stemmed from an understanding and conviction of what was lacking in society was a primary insufficiency in understanding the sacred origin and nature of the cosmos, and of the self in all its aspects – particularly along spiritual lines. It was determined that the consequences of this deficiency had a divisive domino effect from the 17th century on, leading to the further estrangement of persons from an ever-present God, others, nature, and all-inclusive world view. Reconsidering ancient wisdom dictums as key to understanding the mysteries of the universe then led to significant global reforms in mending this breach beginning with (a) the ancient Greek Delphic Oracle dictum, “know thyself,” continuing with (b) various proverbs like, “the fear (reverence) of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding” (Proverbs 10:27). Ironic, that in the Greek tradition the Delphic Oracle, Pythia, was always a woman, as was wisdom in the OT Book of Proverbs, named Sophia. In both traditions, Greek and biblical, wisdom (being favored by the gods) was valued over knowledge and other attainments. According to those wisdom traditions, all knowledge was to begin with self-knowledge, particularly in resourcing innate ideas via implanted knowing as taught in Pythagorean, Platonic, Neo-platonic, and Vedic traditions, and later by the Early Church Fathers and Mothers, in mysticism, wisdom literature, and mystery schools, and by making Montessori educational instruction more widespread. Concerning the subject of origins (cosmology), the nature of being (ontology), and ways of knowing (epistemology), it was determined that any conceptual model from any discipline, prior to, during, or after those mentioned in the above grouping would be considered mere footnotes to same. Any society void of these basic wisdom tenets, as evidenced in the rise and fall of civilizations past, would be subject to developmental arrest, corruption from within, and eventual decay. Devoid of same, Solomon, the wisest man purported to have lived on Earth, stated there would be nothing new under the sun, only the same things happening to different people across generations, each struggling to find themselves and their reason for being.

Mortals primarily learned by trial and error then, via personal and relationship experiences, by observing growth patterns, and sharing viewpoints. Such was the nature of the human mind, rejecting what it did not seek, grasping for half-truths, known for multiplying an assortment of “isms’ and “ologies” that resulted in a variety of incomplete worldviews and origin stories. All of that changed over a century ago. After decades of marginalizing wisdom traditions, particularly in the western world, the impact of rediscovering those traditions was considered Copernican in its progressive impact on overall human consciousness. This wisdom tradition, basically a psycho-spiritual renaissance, sparked a powerful moral, mental, and material revolution among a significant portion of Earth’s population unparalleled in human history. And this radical turn of events was not influenced by Earth’s scientific tradition, institutional religions, clerics, philosophers, or other cosmogenic theories, but by direct personal experience and discipleship under master teachers who themselves had been initiated into the ancient mysteries dating back millennia.

The crux of said revolution in consciousness, perception, and thought in the west pivoted on revisiting the biblical account declaring that only the human species was made in the image and likeness of their Creator-God, intimately connected as branch to vine. The biblical role of a Creator-God is to generate life, being, consciousness, and form from nothing (ex nihilo, a void), and bestowing them upon all things. As in times past, a remnant began to consider the notion (by faith) that the primary role of the Creator was to generate, and that of the created was to be generated, animated, and inspired by same. That belief resulted in the actual experience of this higher life in that remnant, and subsequently in other human souls in great number. The historical record further recounts that those who received this life were to become the very same offspring, spiritually, that other humans had become by bearing the image and likeness (DNA) of their human parents and ancestors. The offspring of humans were to be human beings. The offspring of God were to be likewise of their own kind, spiritual beings oriented to a higher order of awareness via regeneration, one byproduct of which is unitive consciousness.

According to Genesis, after creating plants and animals, stating that everything God had created would reproduce each according to its kind, God said, Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness (Genesis 1:26), showing that humans were created after the Godkind. Returning to basics, this remnant began to lean into, trust, and rely more exclusively on the notion that God was creating himself in humans by way of his very essence, his own spiritual DNA, so that their essence and depth was made after himself, or Spirit, the substance of all visible form. Jesus attested to same in the gospels, quoting Psalm 81:1. I have said: You are gods and all of you the sons of the Highest. Teaching this idea was regarded as blasphemy then, a religious offence that could result in stoning or death. So, Jesus was ultimately scourged, tortured, and murdered by the prevailing religious authorities of his day.

Over two millennia later it became realized that this universal “substance” (Spirit) was light, an interbeing element that seeks its own out everywhere, touching that which at root is most common, inward, and ultimate in them, the spiritual equivalent of gravity. It was only after this deep spiritual awakening and discovery that the development of a universal Spirit-Science synthesis was established, furthering the global recognition that God or Spirit is Light universally. In fact, besides self-referencing as the “Son of God,” one of Jesus’ self-identifiers was “The Light of the World.” The disciple John called him the light that lights every man that comes into the world. He came to teach that this light is the invisible substance of all visible form, something that Teilhard de Chardin, linking spirit with science, referred to as spirit-matter. Along with gravity (gravitas), which draws and anchors all things to their center, light (Spirit) is the only constant in the universe, which along spiritual lines has the same anchoring effect in the human soul. Subsequently, light (and consciousness) became realized as humanity’s common denominators, cosmic anchoring, and deeper identity, the invisible substance of their visible form, and of all things universally. This remnant first believed, then saw and experienced firsthand that God became human so that humans could become gods (godlike); in effect, God loved them by becoming them, later realized in advanced forms of spiritual formation under the influence and infilling of his eternal Spirit. To be so identified with what one creates so as to become it, or to inhabit it, is the highest level of loving (being one with) what one creates,

Above all, this remnant realized that spiritual principles must first be believed to be seen, not conversely, as inverted by the cult of scientism in generations past. They also rediscovered that obedience, which carries an auditory definition (“to hearken attentively”) was henceforth to be their proper posture in giving pride of place to the revealed Word, and not themselves, as with any wise teacher or teaching.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding; in all thy ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths – (Proverbs 3:4-6).

As this remnant subsequently discovered, Spirit (primordial light) generated from a universal Source is indeed the great equalizer, the only measure by which humans were to judge themselves and others as equal and sacred, and in whom, according to the revelation, are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. “All” the treasures mean just that, not “some” treasures, including the all-inclusive Big Story. Forthwith, a larger portion of humanity began to experience themselves and others as equal in a felt sense, not according to their various laws, customs, creeds, philosophies, and national constitutions, but by the genuine experience of the invisible essence (Spirit) that animated their planetary bodies, spirit-souls, and other created forms.

For the first time, it also became perfectly understood that since each created entity, including humans, was to reproduce “after its own kind,” when any entity bore offspring, its offspring would also be of the very same kind, a replica of that kind unlike any other kind (a differentiated entity). The offspring of birds would be birds, and the offspring of dogs would be dogs, etc. Meaning, each organism was understood to be created whole via vertical causation (via the celestial realm) as an irreducible whole, which when it reproduced gave rise to offspring that were also irreducible wholes. Neither could offspring be of the Godkind unless that species was human. Being already whole of a particular kind, it also became more widely understood and accepted that a given organism (species) did not, could not, nor ever would evolve into a creation of a different kind (macroevolution) via some inter-species transition, or by slight changes in its molecular, genetic, or biological structure and essential being alone (microevolution). The biblical record indicates that when God created entities of a given species, he created them just as he wanted them to be, not as they would become by evolving into another species or kind altogether. Spiritual regeneration makes all things new, and of a higher order via a spiritual transformation of vertical/celestial causation, not by natural evolution along horizontal, or human developmental lines.

The scientific story (cosmology) on origins sums up the Evolution Story, a biological narrative that defines changes among created species as horizontally caused over generations and relies on the process of natural selection over deep time. This evolution story was hatched in the mind of naturalist-biologist Charles Darwin in the mid-19th century. Influenced by Darwin’s evolutionary biology, and his paleontology studies, the crux of the cosmogenesis story (process theology) was instituted by priest-scientist Teilhard de Chardin in the early 20th century. It was based on the sincere but mistaken idea that all species are related and gradually change genetically over time to form more advanced, complex forms leading to a better world, and a new (evolved) phylum of humans. The evolutionary notions of both men were highly suspect and controversial in their time, and well into the 21st century, before becoming obsolete later in that century.

Belief in evolution became routinely embraced and passionately defended by the scientific establishment, despite the lack of observable scientific evidence for macroevolution (horizontal evolution from one distinct kind of organism to another). Back then, leading evolutionists had admitted a lack of proof in showing that evolution on any scale ever occurred, ever happened prior, or ever could happen at all. No one had ever seen it happen, and there had been no “transitional” forms ever discovered or observed, despite the claims of evolutionists that such means of observation were impossible because the changes proposed gradually appeared over thousands of years. There are indeed varieties of each kind of plant and animal life, like dogs and cats. But there are no “dats’ or “cogs.” Again, the variations that do occur are called microvariations, minor horizontal changes (downward or terrestrial) that occur often, but only as they reflected changes of degree in a specific organism or species, never one that result in a change or difference in kind, or that indicated a transformational change from one species to another. No truly new species has ever been produced by evolutionary genetic experiments, let alone a new basic kind. The formation of a new species has never been observed, because it never has occurred. Notions of macroevolution are beliefs, not facts, because they cannot be scientifically proven or validated by measurable data.

The scientific method traditionally requires experimental observation and replication. The fact that macroevolution (as distinct from microevolution) had never been observed, not proven via credible evidence, disqualified it from the domain of science by scientific standards. Further, there was not then, nor has there been since, any evidence ever presented in the fossil record that pointed to a single, unequivocal transitional form with transitional structures in the process of evolving. In short, there had been no known way then, or since, that life could have arisen naturalistically, having left a sour aftertaste from primordial soup theories. And that despite the dogmatic resolve by at least one zealous evolutionary biologist in words spoken to his colleagues to the effect that “we cannot allow a divine foot in the door” as to origins.

Such is not science, but a religious faith in preserving and promoting the empirical cult of atheistic scientism.

Natural revelation (nature) and special revelation (Scripture) are not the same and ought not be confused. The former derives from the latter, not conversely. As above so below. The greater cannot proceed (evolve/generate) from the lesser, nor can the higher from the lower. Such are the workings of vertical causation as it plays out in the space-time field (mental/material realm).

As there is little evidence for evolutionary transitions in the fossil record, things remain the same, save for minor fluctuations. Agin, evolution is not a fact of science as many claim. It’s not even science at all, but an arbitrary system built upon faith in universal naturalism, strong positive evidence for special revelation (the Bible), as well as vertically caused (celestial) creation. Further, any vertical changes in organized complexity would be downward, not lateral, since a Creator would create things correctly to begin with, save by the creative imaginations of evolutionary “scientists.”

Particles-to-people evolution eventually fell by its own weight, deemed a religion not science, a dogmatic atheistic worldview. Its founder, Charles Darwin, rejected all supernatural phenomena and notions of vertical causation. Such not only contradicted the biblical story of creation as revealed in the Book of Genesis, but further disregarded the biblical timeline, and the teachings of Christ (Christology) and the apostles with respect to Christ’s second coming (Parousia). The Parousia is a not-yet end times event referenced 24 separate times in Scripture. In this highly prophesized event, Christ will gather all believers to himself, judge non-believers past and present, end the cosmos and space-time as we know it, and set up an eternal (celestial) kingdom not of this world. At that time, every lesser truth, partial truth, lower order truth, subset of a larger truth, and bogus truth will then dissolve in the boundless ocean of eternal truth of which all the others are only an infinitesimal or inconsequential part.

For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea (Habakkuk 2:14).

As it is written, the biblical story about creation was not accepted as true in the post-modern era because it was not in accord with what science hypothesized back then, when it placed itself at the very center of the origin story without due regard for the spiritual, or vertical causation aspects of creation. Relatively minor (microevolutionary) genetic, molecular, and biological changes were discovered. Such were rightly attributed by science to horizontal causation (from the terrestrial realm) along strictly empirical lines, though overall, science continued its slide down the slippery slope toward scientism in its understanding the complexity of creation. Declaring the scientific method as the primary mode of understanding the whole of creation, scientism (materialism) claimed, and still claims that science alone can render the full truth about the world and reality as it is. Such is an inversion of the truth as stated in Genesis. The inversion (reversal) of truth stated in the revelation is traditionally regarded as heresy, the work of the archenemy of God, whose purpose is to undermine the revealed Word (truths) of God as recorded in Scripture.

Trivializing the biblical account of creation as scientifically unfounded, the materialist view had its origins in antiquity, beginning with Democritus, who thought the created order as arising from particulates (atoms) suspended in a void of space. That view was supported by Anaxagoras, continued with Aristotle, and prevailed through rationalist Rene Descartes, followed by empiricists Thomas Hobbes and John Locke. Science’s limited, insufficient methods (left brain) had their foundations with this kind of world view and were given free rein to determine what was either true (fact), real, or unreal stories on origins, deeming Earth’s mythologies and wisdom traditions as cleverly devised fables lacking evidence and credibility. After that, strict materialists such as Richard Dawkins and Neil de Grasse Tyson readily dispensed with God as an unnecessary hypothesis in an evolutionary world, claiming that it ran quite well on genes and natural selection alone. Like light itself, no physicalist/materialist had then considered that God (Spirit) could be in the world but not of it, distinct from creation but not separate from it. Nor did any empiricist even deign to think that Spirit could inhabit (incarnate) matter as its highest part seeking realization in human consciousness – until Christ spoke it, the apostle Paul wrote it, Einstein confirmed it in general relativity, and Teilhard de Chardin affirmed it as an aspect of his cosmology model early in the 20th century.

We are slowed down sound and light waves, a walking bundle of frequencies tuned into the cosmos .  .  . souls dresssed up in sacred biochemical garments  — Albert Einstein

Matter is spirit slowed down enough to be seen – Teilhard de Chardin

This narrow materialistic view on origins remained so until the late 20th century, when it was first determined that empirical knowledge (left-brain) could only see and explain about 3-5 percent of the 360-degree broad-band view of the total reality (Big Story). Meaning, science became the last word and ultimate authority, largely unchallenged in declaring that if a phenomenon couldn’t be observed, measured, proven, or replicated by its empirical, sense-bound methods, it did not exist, nor could it possibly be true. This made evolutionary (horizontal causality) theories, theistic evolution, process theology, or stage notions of creation (particles-to-people) become so rife, popularized, and hard-wired into western scientific, academic and popular thought, that they were never questioned until just before, and shortly after Earth’s last mass extinction, followed by the Great Spiritual/Wisdom Awakening in the late 22nd century. This global catastrophe, and others, put an end to all science-centric theorizing and false-premise speculation. The arc of history has indeed bent slowly, but always in the direction of the largest dome of meaning, and highest level of consciousness. Such are almost always spiritual in nature, and typically emerge from chaos, tribulations, and crises.

Amid the sweeping claims of scientific materialism (scientism), conservative biblical believers continued to hold fast, maintaining that evolutionary theories belied God’s orderly creation as recounted in the first book of Genesis, contradicting the divine design of creation, which led to many of humanity’s self-induced extinction events as prophesied. At the time, the stark difference in worldviews illustrated the prevalence of the divided seeing and siloed knowledge rivalry (separation consciousness) that began with Democritus, culminated in the 17th century, and dominated human perception and thought up until the mid-to late 21st century. At that time, cogent human thought began to rearrange itself along interdisciplinary lines, searching for their inter-relationship, and a common interbeing element and nexus. Such was later seen and understood as Providence at work drawing human thought in the direction of considering the error of its (left-brain) ways in wholly embracing horizontal causation theories, leading it in the direction of ancient wisdom (right-brain) perspectives on vertical causation originating in the celestial realm. This coincided around the same time evolutionary theories and their corollaries in particles-to-people cosmogenesis started to become dead end pursuits in approaching mystery, losing popularity among those in the search for deeper, more meaningful (right-brain) truths. At the time, most anything ancient was considered out-of-date, antiquated, or not reflective of the more “advanced” civilizations from which those traditions later emerged. Such reasoning was marked by the hubris and presumption so characteristic of human thought in the Age of Scientism, including the painful and embarrassing consequences resulting thereof.

Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices (Proverb 1:31).

Between these extremes, however, there were a few theologians like John Haught who tried to reconcile both views, and with sincere mediation intentions, claiming that evolution opened a new window to God, a bridge allowing progressive views of divinity in a divided world that he and others saw filled with biblical literalists, and dominated by scientism’s randomness, chance, and deterministic laws. Between these two fundamentalist-thinking polarities also stood the lone figure of Teilhard de Chardin, a Jesuit priest, mystic, and scientist trained in paleontology. Considered one of the most provocative and seminal thinkers of the 20th century by many, he also saw God in evolution, transforming lower to higher level species in a manner contrary to the basic tenets of his own theological tradition, a phenomenon altogether common to that tradition in falsifying or altering special revelation (foundational biblical truths.)

What Teilhard claimed he saw was divinity unfolding in space and time toward a consummation in history that he called the Omega Point. Such was regarded as a revolutionary idea of God who was not independent of his work in creation, but was active within and out ahead of it, embedded in creation itself like leaven in bread, and marked by a plurality of relationships directed toward greater unity. Yet on closer scrutiny, what was good about Teilhard’s “revolutionary” idea was neither revolutionary or new (God incarnate in matter); and what was new about his theory was neither good nor sound theology (theistic evolution via horizontal causality) as measured by the canon of Scripture. The latter’s claim has always been that the deepest secrets regarding the mysteries of origins, endings, personal identity, nature, and the cosmos remained hidden and opaque to non-spiritual perception and thought. In the absence of same, evolutionary theories in science, and theistic evolution in religion (process theology) each established a synthesis hypothesis based on horizontal causation that not only gave credibility to evolution as fact, but gave evolution its own God, as if God needed an additional or alternative way to explain the creation event as revealed in Genesis. It became apparent that such a religio-scientific cosmology compromised both science and theology, playing loose with each. An apparent bridge builder who sought to connect disparate views on origins, Teilhard’s ideas on horizontal causation were highly suspect at the time, and rightly so, which is why they were only marginally accepted in conservative religious circles, as well as in philosophically materialist, and empirically oriented science. Placing himself between a spiritual Rock (Christ) and a materialist hard place (scientism), strictly speaking, Teilhard ultimately gained favor with neither. By denying or ignoring the Parousia, an eschatological day and time known only to the Father, said the Christ, Teilhard established himself as part of the neo-gnostic heresy that declares there are no other higher worlds to fly into in terms of spiritual consciousness or the celestial realm, because this world itself is turning into that higher world via evolution. As a result, Teilhard received “bad Marx” in both science and Christology, particularly in the latter by denying biblical eschatology, the teaching of end-time phenomena. According to the biblical timeline on endings, via the Parousia God in Christ will not consummate or perfect his plan for the universe via evolution over deep time, nor will he restore it. Rather, he will replace it in its entirety.

The Abrahamic religions maintain a linear cosmology, with end-time scenarios containing themes of vertically caused transformation and redemption, not molecules-to-man evolution. In Judaism, the term “end of days” makes reference to the Messianic Age and includes as an in-gathering of the exiled Jewish diaspora, the coming of the Messiah, the resurrection of the righteous, and the world to come. Christianity depicts the end time as a period of tribulation that precedes the second coming of Christ, who will face the rise of the Antichrist along with his power structure and false prophets, and usher in the Kingdom of God. In both the Abrahamic and Christian cosmologies, the old-world order will cease entirely, replaced by a new world to come. The biblical view in both Old and New Testaments never views humanity, left to its own devices, as able to improve its own lot as a whole. That is, without divine redemption and intervention (vertically caused) there is no such thing as “self-salvation,” to say nothing of evolutionary advancement over deep time along horizontal lines, save in the areas of medical and technological advances. Rather, according to the biblical pattern, civilizations will rise and fall, come and go, eventually becoming subject to corruption, decadence, and moral decay from within, an entropic outcome in keeping with historical fact. In this worldview, it is a mistake to think that this world is God’s world, with certain elements of evil in it that human good must oppose. Rather, human society is not of God’s making, but of the powers of darkness, as are its systems of government, basic philosophies, business and many religious practices. By and large, civilizations are not God’s handiwork. They end the way they do because of dark forces rooted in human nature that work contrary to divine principles, order and design. Such evils are which mankind require deliverance from via vertical causation, not by telling global evolutionary stories that have no scientific or spiritual basis in fact, to say nothing of historical evidence to support them.

When it comes to playing loose with theology by picking and choosing which sound (foundational) doctrines are acceptable, and which are not, one plays dice with the devil, opening themselves to demonic influences via alternative “enlightened” perceptions and thoughts. The term Anti-Christ means “alternative to Christ,” teaching principles that are not only contrary to higher truths, but 180 degrees opposite. Recall, it was Christ who quoted Scripture when tempted of the devil to embrace the latter’s views on divine truths when thrice tested in the wilderness prior to his public ministry. And each of those times he answered by referencing special revelation (Scripture), beginning with the words, It is written. . .

The discovery of “deep time” radically changed how the world was seen. The term was coined by geologist James Hutton in the 18th century. According to Hutton, time had “no vestige of a beginning, no prospect of an end,” claiming to orient humanity to its largest molecules-to-man evolutionary context. Not only did it contradict and rewrite the biblical account of time, but it also provided the canvas for the unsubstantiated theory of evolution. Later, it would help astronomers to show that the earth itself was relatively young compared with the age of the Universe, extending the mind over thousands, millions, or even billions of years in support of its origins model. If scientists can call upon an ape to explain mankind’s ancestry, why not a time scale of billions of years to justify pond scum-to-people evolution?

Prior, there were then as many origin stories as there were cultures around the world. Every society had developed its own stories to explain the creation of the universe, including those written in the wisdom tradition of holy books rooted in ways of knowing not acknowledged or comprehensible by scientific means. The former had been excluded from due consideration in the Age of Science, until much later when human thinking became more open to higher levels of consciousness (right-brain) upon being purged of its own exclusive, left-brained, sense-bound perceptions. As humanity’s instruments of immorality and destruction predictably began to further overtake their instruments of morality and life enhancement, it inevitably resulted in a variety of self-orchestrated personal and global calamities. Those calamities included the ravages of climate change and thermonuclear war, annihilations that purged almost the entire race of its prodigal ways, initiating it into the reality and experience of what the wisdom traditions and gospel teachings of Christ all pointed to as signposts. Thus was ushered in a new axial age, the Age of Wisdom planet Earth now enjoys after slogging through millennia of untested theories, turmoil, and harrowing global calamities.

Likewise, as biblical believers maintained their own universe story on origins as valid, and the dust, smoke, and hoo-ha of cosmogenic scientism settled, creationist views emerged as the most accepted and widely believed of origin stories. Its story was rightly based on a vertical component as causal but unfortunately trivialized the valid microevolutionary components of science (molecular-genetic-biological) which didn’t entirely meet their accepted doctrinal and dogmatic requirements. Like their counterparts in science, most far right forms of religion then did not reflect authentic spirituality, as it had not yet been purged of its own dogmatic, fundamentalist markings and radicalized groupings worldwide. Such was evidence that in the absence of a universal equalizer, one spiritually implanted within a human soul to lend it balance and wisdom, said soul was likely to err in the extreme, manifest either as atheistic scientism or religious fundamentalism in explanations on origins. Owing to those judgement-eclipsing extremes, very few had ever come to see the world clearly and steadily. However, for the few, spiritual consciousness based on a belief, experience, and practice of special revelation as revealed in Scripture did more closely approximate the kind of visual clarity and integral thought of the Godkind as originally intended. Without the discovery and practice of same, the fallen state of human perception continued to be marked by separation consciousness (divided or dualistic seeing and thinking), the primary causes of which are reported in the early pages of Genesis which belie the cosmogenic notions of mankind redeeming itself over deep time. According to the biblical premise on the nature of man, wholeness, whole-making and whole- seeing and thinking are not naturally inherent in humanity without direct vertical causation, intervention, or inspiration. God became man (in Christ) that man might become God (in Christ), not by evolution, but by radical one-soul-at-a-time transformations of the regenerative kind, sovereignly arranged and vertically caused, just as Jesus taught.

The whole of life lies in the verb seeing – Teilhard de Chardin

But make no mistake, microevolutionary changes, singly or in toto, do not and cannot make for macroevolutionary changes in support of evolutionary and pseudo religio-scientific theories. Silk purses are not made from sow’s ears just by thinking, wishing, or hoping they are. Genuine spiritual transformations occur from the inside-out of persons, not from the outside-in, creating not a new suit for the man, but generating a new man for the suit. Again, spiritualized perception and thought are of a higher, more discerning and nuanced order than natural perception and thought, sifting reality as it is viewed by the natural eye with a much finer net. Recall, at one time belief in the flat earth and geocentric theories of the solar system were widely accepted and slow to disappear, even long after being firmly discredited as fact.

For the natural mean receives not the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them because they are spiritually discerned (1 Corinthians 2:14).

After so many perplexing eons, despite its many advances in science, medicine and technology, at that time the human species had yet to emotionally and spiritually mature beyond its childhood and adolescent ways, rendering it unable to resolve its own conceptual and moral dilemmas along holistic integral lines. And again, that is to say nothing of fully apprehending the mysteries of its cosmic origins and/or future planetary fate, neither of which held up in the short-range scheme of things considering the inevitable pestilences, overpopulation dilemmas, climate change catastrophes, and mass extinction events that decimated its population in the last half of the 21st century.

No story lives unless someone wants to listen – J.K. Rowling

Although there were those who thought Teilhard’s ideas were decades ahead of his time, his synthesis vision was largely unaccepted, declared heretical, or mocked. Along with Darwin’s notions, Teilhard’s conceptions of God evolving more complex organisms across species via stardust, primordial soup, and single cell organisms even became a comic satire in the form of a three-act stage production funded by wealthy religious right and materialist groups of each persuasion. The comedy was narrated by a Groucho Marx impersonator, entitled The Genesis Brothers, starring, in birth order, Cosmo, Geo, Bio, Psycho, and Christo. The burlesque performance was pure slapstick, a spoof on the Marx Brothers Vaudeville names of the 1930’s and 40’s. As with the brothers Marx, their off-stage names were listed on the playbill as, in order, Mo, Rocky, Reed, Ego, and Theo.

In the comedic act, Groucho (a.k.a “Cosmo” Genesis), cigar in hand, strolled with trademark slink into the spotlight of a darkened stage to utter a three-minute monologue on the satire’s intro that was also printed on the playbill. The intro, and comedy, essentially ridiculed the notions of biological evolution, particularly Teilhard’s stages of cosmogenic evolution, read as a news bulletin delivered by “Cosmo” (Groucho) as follows:

“Ladies and gentlemen, may I have your attention please. I have in my hands a news flash hot off the press about a new universe story on the origins of the universe discovered by a French scientist- theologian who claims to have successfully married science and religion, resolving their age-old differences and conflicts. What you are about to witness is a three-act play whose cast of characters are appropriately named after what this cleric refers to as his “cosmogenic” stages of evolution. And they are, in order of their appearance, Cosmo (played by yours truly), Geo, Bio, Psycho, and Christo, played by my brothers. By way of introduction, a summary of the New Story, beginning to end, goes like this:  Nearly fourteen billion years ago in a vast explosion of light and heat from (The Big Store), our universe was born. Upon cooling down, elementary particles (Animal Crackers) and fundamental forces (Cocoanuts) emerged to form stardust, later organizing themselves into a primordial plasma called (Duck Soup) that morphed into atoms of hydrogen, helium, and a variety of other elementary particles. Those particles later magically evolved as elephants and giraffes, just like (At the Circus). Later, fish turned into reptiles which later morphed into primates, ushering in the world’s (Monkey Business), the beginning of a long, enchanting story hatched in a dream during (A Night in Casablanca) prior to which alcohol was heavily imbibed. That story further crystallized one evening during (A Night At The Opera) upon further imbibing the theoretical intoxicants of one, Charles Darwin, rendering half the world dumbstruck and intellectually inebriated. Darwin’s book included the picture of a caged zoo ape, under which was posted the hairy primate’s query, “Am I my keeper’s brother?” All of which began the evolution story (Horse Feathers) which spread like wildfire, romancing others in the pseudo-scientific community worldwide who ended up (Love Happy), living blissfully ever after in a non-existent town called Omegaville (a.k.a Vaudeville).

Groucho’s satirical intro continues, “Later, this mythical story was produced and directed by science-academic (Rags to Riches) experts that finally toppled the ancient authority of the Bible (Overcoming the Monster) becoming so popularized that it not only replaced ancient myths, and the biblical story of creation, but in its travels (Go West) eventually became THE greatest fallacy of western thought in both science and religion, served up like (Room Service) to its faithful followers on the origins of the universe. It further popularized (The Quest) in documentary form, an award-winning cosmology film that appeared on YouTube and video forums everywhere. What’s more, said narrative beat out all prior mythologies on origins during (A Day at the Races) competition for “greatest-story-never-told” honors. The broadcast topped the Nielsen ratings on PBS one evening, which aired during the prime-time broadcast of a presidential debate on another network.”

This satiric intro was followed by the hilarious three-act comedy routine involving all five “Genesis Brothers” which initially played to only a handful sell-out crowds and was given less than sterling reviews by critics. At one early production, materialist–atheist Richard Dawkins was seen sitting beside fellow materialist Jane Bennett, and Neil de Grasse Tyson, with all three laughing uproariously. When those in extremist thinking circles of any endeavor are unable to laugh at themselves, it is time for others to laugh at them. And that would include the fundamentalist-materialist Dawkins’ and smug de Grasse Tyson’s of the world.

Ironically, as envisioned by Teilhard over a century prior, confirmed by widespread implanted knowing (undivided knowing) in Earth’s last Great Awakening, it turns out all five Genesis brothers (Cosmo, Geo, Bio, Ego, and Theo), like their comedic counterparts in the Brothers Marx, were indeed all of the same spiritual DNA, one in nature and substance with the divine in spite of their unique appearances. They just didn’t know it, of course, not having been spiritually awakened to same. The same also applied to the entire human species and created order, whose basic composition and identity (planetary bodies) were revealed as originating not in stardust (materiality) as cosmogenic notions claimed, rather in the spiritual essence OF stardust (their celestial bodies), which pre and post-existed their planetary bodies as pure light beings. Humans were placed on Earth to discover this reality in the fullness of time, and to be redeemed by it, later to be totally transformed by God’s eternal Spirit as foretold re: Christ’s second coming (Parousia).

That in the dispensation of the fullness of times he might gather together all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth, in him (Ephesians 1:10)

As history reveals, fundamentalists of both persuasions in science and religion had judged Teilhard too harshly. Such was later confirmed that not all of his contributions to the Big Story were bogus; only his horizontal, particles-to-people evolutionary theory, and with it the errant views on Omega that contradicted the teachings of Christ and the epistles on endings. Bad science does not make for good Christology, especially when 180 degrees off the mark.

Of significance were Teilhard’s lasting contributions that (a) underscored right seeing as indispensable to spirituality and spiritual consciousness, (b) affirmed Spirit as the highest part of matter, confirming the incarnation, (c) provided insights on the annexation of spirit and soul in the interior life, reframed as spirit-soul, two aspects of the same incarnate phenomena existing like two sides of a coin, (d) introduced the cardinal notion that science and spirituality had a common origin by a common energy in the divine, which was later confirmed and identified as light, the Alpha and Omega of history. Such was instrumental in contributing to later discoveries on origins which verified that the end lies in the beginning; the farther backward one looks in the cosmos, the farther forward one can see, (e) provided a vision for a meta-Christianity (metaphysics), or Spirit-Science model on origins and education that would one day not only reform Christianity, but become Christianity’s major contribution to the world,  which it eventually did by identifying light as the universal substance (spirit) of all visible form, (f) identified homo terrestrians as spiritual beings having a human experience, not conversely, and (g) his indomitable courage, perseverance, and faithfulness as humanity’s greatest synthesis visionary, verifying the prophetic messages of old that the age of nations had passed, whereby every race, tribe, and tongue would unite as One under the same God who inhabited all things as the Light of The World.

And this is life eternal, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent (John 17:3).

Along with his particles-to-people notions of evolution, Teilhard’s noosphere was also dismissed, considered an idiosyncratic concept referring to accumulated empirical knowledge (sapientia humana), laced with religious language. Such was deemed pure fiction negating a vertically caused, higher order wisdom at work in creation (sapientia divina). The noosphere never passed muster as indicative of a literal thinking layer or envelope (informational aura) hovering over the planetary biosphere like the Internet. While the influence of Teilhard’s evolutionary notions did spread beyond Roman Catholic circles, it remained of primary interest to Catholic organizations, academics, and intellectuals. After decades of censoring Teilhard’s work, he was finally embraced by the Vatican, whose interest was to secure a place on the scientific-evolutionary bandwagon in post-modern times for fear of committing a similar faux pax as with Copernicus and Galileo. And this, even though like so many of its false creeds and doctrines, such was clearly at variance with biblical canon and the teachings of Christ on end times.

Exactly what was it that began to separate earthlings from their more archaic, dualistic (scientistic-religionist) perceptions and thoughts of over 150 years ago? Answer: Nothing more than a close encounter of the wisdom kind which ultimately delivered a significant population of the globe from the illusions of divided seeing and thinking, and with-it theistic evolution. This awakening alone was primarily responsible for moving wandering humanity closer to God, each other, nature, and the cosmos in unitive consciousness. In essence, it was to discover that the entire species shared the same spiritual DNA as light beings originating in the Father of lights who shines from the heavens with no hidden shadow or darkness and is never subject to change (James 1-17, 18). Such indeed was a remarkable revival of the enlightened kind, one resulting in a radical change of cosmic seeing and knowing unprecedented in human history. The effect was nothing short of hopeful, pre-Parousia, in the age-old quest for a greater unifying solution to global origins, human identity, mutuality, cooperation, and respect among nations, tribes and tongues worldwide. To a large extent, it was this factor that led to harmonizing the multitude of independent synthesis groups, which prior had not coordinated efforts toward resolving their differences on origins (see below).

Somewhere between 2025-2030, proponents of the prevailing cosmogenic story took the next and biggest step as witnesses to the next generation and the development of a viable synthesis model. This model was to be to succeeding generations what the Ten Commandments had been to the ancient Israelites. This new addition to their models began when they realized there was a need to give greater room and definition to a missing structural dimension (mystery component) of their synthesis models. As such, leaders from the Deeptime Network (DTN), Center for Christogenesis (C4C), Center for Action and Contemplation (CAC), Science & Non-Duality (SAND), Evolutionary Leaders, Creation Spirituality, and the American Teilhard Association (ATA), formed a global synergy group that collaborated to embrace the world’s holy books and wisdom traditions as central to their advanced “seeing and thinking” synthesis movements. Such was a watershed moment in global unitive consciousness, the direct result of becoming aware that such was to be humanity’s last frontier in understanding the full story on origins. Further, it was to confirm the real energy (electromagnetic singularity) driving and drawing human history from the outset as spiritual in nature, innermost and outermost. This global synergy consortium inspired others worldwide to revisit the roots of the spiritual tradition from which several of their universe models originated, the perennial spiritual truths and pertinent sacred texts that eventually became foundational to their Spirit-Science model. Such was the vision of the storytelling priest from the mid-20th century in his significant contributions to the Big Story, affirming the incarnational aspects of Spirit that embeds in the material order universally. Via Teilhard’s (non-evolutionary) long term vision, this new synergy consortium further confirmed that such should have been, and finally turned out to be Christianity’s major contribution to a Spirit-Science synthesis offering an all-inclusive worldview in education toward global origins, order, and cosmic harmony.

Prior, Teilhard’s mystical inspirations on origins had been dismissed and censured in their entirety as heresy on both religious and scientific grounds, even though it was later realized that his notions (a) rightly confirmed Spirit as the highest part of matter awaiting realization in humans, not by evolution, but by regeneration and infilling of the Holy Spirit in spiritual conversion as revealed in the New Testament, (b) affirmed the organic, or third-nature of Christ alluded to in the Pauline epistles, as He in whom all things consist and hold together (Colossians 1:16,17), He fills all things (Colossians 2:10), and Christ is all and in all (Ephesians 4:19). And what does God in Christ universally fill them with? His Spirit, the hidden organic component of God that embeds in all things everywhere (panentheism).

And again, what was the synthesis breakthrough disclosure on the nature of Spirit universally that makes everything One? That in substance, Spirit is primordial (uncreated) light totally of celestial origin, the vertically caused invisible substance of all visible form, and matter’s common denominator universally.

Withal, more serious consideration was given to the creation story as outlined in Genesis 1, and the spiritual regeneration, conversion, and redemption accounts as outlined in the New Testament record. Particular attention was given to that part of the narrative later verified by Albert Einstein and other physicists, including David Bohm and Nassim Haramein, along with the CMBR discovery that pinpointed light, sound, and gravity (gravitas) as foundational to cosmic origins. That led to further investigations into the unfolding story of light in the biblical narrative, near death experience (NDE) research, and noetic studies. Along biblical lines, such featured light as the cosmic catalyst in Genesis (“Let Light Be”) continuing throughout various critical junctures in the biblical narrative, manifested in the birth, life, and death of the Christ, and culminating in the Book of Revelation. The latter described Omega’s template lying in a heavenly city of light that “does not need the sun or moon to shine upon it, for the glory of God gives it light.”

While considering same with an open mind (or open valve to the right-brain), something wondrous began to stir within persons and unify others as this energy of this global synergy consortium reached critical mass, inspiring others to discover that the common element and theme to the deep-time universe story lay in the mystery of light, mentioned ten times in Genesis 1 as central to origins. Light, that self-organizing energy (Spirit) with properties of consciousness that embeds (incarnates) in all things as the highest part of matter. Light, the non-local spiritual star (polestar) of the entire biblical drama that (who) gathers and reconciles all meridians of wisdom and knowledge (vertical and horizontal) to himself regardless of outward form, galactic location, or any other distinctive. Light, the very definition of that self-organizing agent which has been hidden in the entire created order, outermost and innermost from the beginning (Alpha) to the end (Omega/Parousia). Light, the spiritual DNA (Spirit) we now know is the substance of all material form, the interbeing nexus not only of the five Brother’s Marx, but of the five Brothers Genesis, the five Brothers Grimm (Ignorance, Famine, Pestilence, War, and Conquest), and the Three Stooges (Scientism, Evolution, and Academia), along with all that has life and being.

Subsequently, the spiritual fire sparked within those small synthesis remnants ignited and set ablaze the Great Spiritual Awakening that ushered in the Age of Wisdom which earthlings continue to develop and enjoy today, joining the rest of the cosmic community in joyful celebration of unitive being and understanding. And that, while the spiritual revolution and global movement they began ended sadly for many, lost in the global cataclysms that came only a few decades after their synthesis revival began. Their memory and sacrifice, like those who had gone before in science and spirituality, carry on in our memories and labors as light beings and light workers on earth, in the galaxy, and beyond.

Everything is the light .  .  . If you want to know the secrets of the universe, study energy, frequency, and vibration – Nikola Tesla

In the year of this writing (2225), and despite a minority of holdovers, many of those on planet Earth have since matured exponentially in enlightened awareness, undivided seeing, and wisdom, and now view those siloed religious and scientific cosmologies, cultural myths, and cosmogenic stories of yesteryear as things of a distant and troubled past. That past was comprised of partial truths, incomplete pieces of a larger puzzle (Big Story) that were reconciled in the late Ecozoic era, and ultimately gave rise to Earth’s long-awaited Big Story. Said story has continued to spread globally, and presently is on the cusp of another new version of itself ripe for future challenges as part of an even larger cosmic community. This cosmic community is more advanced in consciousness and technology on the vast spectrum of Universal Light, that broadband spectrum of cosmic energy everywhere present called God. All of it thanks to the pioneering work of the Christ, Teilhard, Michael Faraday, Nikola Tesla, Albert Einstein, numberless unheralded stewards of sacred truths, and a host of other innovators from all fields. Those who remain on planet Earth as benefactors of this synthesis movement have only to await the second return of their Master, teacher, and Savior in the Parousia event that will consummate history, and the sacred narrative as revealed by the OT prophets and NT revelation.

Some of enlightened humanity now lives on other planets as devoted light workers who emigrated elsewhere in the Milky Way, collaborating with off-world, extra-dimensional beings in the creation of a truly unified cosmic story, one involving distant cosmic communities circling other stars with a broader inter-galactic horizon more advanced than their own, also of celestial origins.

Before passing away, these enlightened Earth ancestors recorded the wisdom they had gained through implanted knowing which came from a powerful spiritual consciousness within themselves, allowing these pioneers to make key updates as to their sacred origins and identity in a universal constant of light in which all things consist and cohere. Subsequently, thanks to their efforts, exoteric learning has led to esoteric knowing in primary and secondary education, colleges and universities, where outside-in education was re-inverted, replaced by inside-out knowing of a more liminal kind, a largely intuitive, trans-rational, trans-physical way of knowing that inclines toward undivided seeing and thinking, a difference not in degree from the basic form it took a few centuries ago on planet Earth, but in kind, preparatory and requisite to the Christ coming again to gather his own now enveloped and informed by same.

Surely, it was not happenstance that most of those who participated in the scientific revolution (1543-1687), whose contributions seem (to us) so original and innovative, were themselves convinced that they were merely rediscovering this vast ocean of knowledge, the prisca sapientia (pristine knowledge) that had been possessed by the ancients, including those in Atlantis, but was somehow lost along the way.

Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, ‘We will not walk in it’ (Jeremiah 6:16).

In the Age of Wisdom, advanced homo terrestrians now recognize that there is a tripartite ordering (hierarchy) in the universe consisting of celestial, terrestrial, and telestial realms and their stratified entities and occupants. While each of these realms are distinct from each other, they are not separate but permeable to one another. Otherwise known as spirit, soul, and body, this interlaced triune strata exists and resides at the individual level as well.

The celestial realm is that of pure divine light inhabited by celestial (spiritual) ideas, and beings with spiritual bodies. This is the realm that corresponds to spirit, and spiritual consciousness in humans. It is the home of all archetypes and archetypal images and icons, to the extent they originate in the unconscious (right-brain) in liminal space directly from the spiritual realm. It consists entirely of irreducible wholes at all scales that lie entirely outside of space-time, able to permeate the other realms with divine images, energies, and ideas that provide a potent source for telestial metaphor, innovation, and creativity. Its signet-like icons impress upon the other two realms, bearing and casting their images (icons or likenesses) like shadows, in and as psychic and material forms, representations, and structures. Cast in both terrestrial (material) and telestial (psycho-spiritual) realms, their realized images appear there as whole entities. There are no “parts” of things in this vertical realm where everything exists either as a whole-part, whole idea, or whole image that creates similar ideas and images for development and implementation horizontally in the other two realms. The novel ideas of telestial geniuses in all fields, religious, scientific, and artistic, past and future, all originate here.

The empirical sciences and sense-bound awarenesses (and knowledge derived therefrom) cannot and do not of themselves apprehend or comprehend things of the celestial realm unless they are right-brained activated by Spirit. That is, unless otherwise enlightened or endowed, all persons are born third-eye blind. Neither can they see the telestial realm of the psycho-spiritual with much clarity, depth, and dimension, as the latter are not detectable by their limiting sense-bound, empirical vision and methods.

Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for those who love him (1 Corinthians 2:9).

The terrestrial realm is the opposite of the celestial realm. A collection of objects and particles only, it is the corporeal/material realm that exists entirely within the field of space-time. Being corporeal and sub-corporeal, this is the dense realm of material effect, consisting of and reducible to many parts and sub-parts (atoms, photons, quarks, and quanta) at all scales of the universe. Such corresponds to the material make-up of bodies and forms, including the human body. There are no telestial qualities in this realm like love, color, smell, beauty, goodness, or emotions. Instead, parts and sub-parts are identified only by quantum (mechanical) properties of size, weight, shape, position, velocity, or location, which in themselves have no names save as human minds analyze, catalogue, and ascribe names to them. All these parts and sub-parts form the subject matter of the empirical sciences, including classical and quantum physics. All things in this realm exist as parts (particles), and/or in wave form, entities whose consistencies can be animated by an interbeing energy (Spirit) deriving from the higher (celestial/telestial) realms that make for their interbeing Oneness (or entanglement). Again, this energy originates from and returns to the celestial realm, the primary cause and destination (Alpha and Omega) of their existence and trajectory in space-time.

The life of any entity that appears in the terrestrial and telestial realms is spiritual life, vertically caused (from above). Being everywhere the element in which all things consist and cohere, innermost and outermost, Spirit (consciousness) works both from within and ahead of those entities invisibly directing and shaping their horizontal development and evolution. Nothing (no-thing) that originates from the celestial realm can originate from the other two realms by itself, save to reproduce and advance a given species along genetic, molecular, and/or and biologically horizontal lines, catalyzed, quantized, or divinized entirely from above. Of note, the sub-corporeal (sub-terrestrial) realm is the area of chaos, confusion, conflict, sorrow, illness, death (entropy), and the spiritual powers of darkness whose deceptions have for millennia influenced the divided perceptions, thoughts, races, cultures, and religions of mankind. The energy of these forms breeds and feeds on war, conflict, confusion, conquest, disease, division, and disorders of all kinds.

The telestial realm is a mediating realm that lies between the celestial and terrestrial realms whose purpose is to reconcile their tensions at all scales. It is the unfinished realm of humanity that restlessly seeks repose in Being (I-Am-ness), more fully along spiritual lines. As an in-between entity, it looks to and reaches for completion in the celestial realm, trying to overcome the downward pull, inertia and entropy of its terrestrial influences and limitations. Contrary to the terrestrial realm, but indicative of the celestial strata, this realm is a communion of subjects, not a collection of mechanical objects, parts of objects, or fragmented wholes. As a “tweener” this realm is to the celestial and terrestrial realms what the seashore is to the sea and land, a hybrid of the two with its own unique images, entities, and ecology (interbeing context.) It’s the seat of the spirit-soul that is either more influenced from the terrestrial (lower) or celestial (higher) vibratory light realms, striving to have a foot in each in a balanced way for the duration of its stay in space-time. The more perfectly balanced terrestrials are firmly anchored in their celestial (spiritual) identities, and become beacons of light, healing, wisdom, and hope to the developing spirit-souls of their kind.

Most significantly, in the telestial realm mathematics (particularly geometry) plays a significant role in revealing how everything has an underlying geometric template that links it to the cosmos. Sacred geometry is a universal language that describes the inner workings of nature and the intrinsic order of the universe. Differing from standard Euclidian geometry taught in schools, which adheres to a disconnected view of the universe, sacred or interdimensional geometry embraces the ecological view of a connected universe or unified field. Studying the patterns that unite all forms of life from microbes to plants and stars, sacred geometry shows the relatedness between unique differences, demonstrating how diverse elements at all scales can be organized into a whole, while still preserving their individual uniqueness. Showing how the microcosm reflects the macrocosm, geometric cosmology provides a tangible means of examining the intrinsic order of the universe. It provides a perspective on the interface between the seen and unseen, the quantitative and qualitative, and the finite and infinite. Of special significance is the spiral motif, along with the Seed of Life, Flower of Life, Egg of Life, and torus motifs as interbeing icons that provide the archetypal scaffolding for all things in the field of space-time.

Those telestials who by practice experience regular daily breakthroughs in consciousness to the celestial realm attain even higher levels of awareness and undivided seeing, along with wisdom and insights inspired by the divine, and at higher vibratory levels of consciousness. However, those more influenced by the terrestrial, sense-bound, and empirical realms are more vulnerable to lower-level (default) perception and thought regressions characterized by divided seeing, dualistic and concrete thinking, the hallmark of those under the old system of science, religion, mythology, and philosophy of the past. Those more exclusively oriented to the terrestrial realm along more empirical lines have fewer or no insights into the celestial or telestial (psycho-spiritual) realms, and hence remain dense and insensate to either or both, like lower-level hominids (monkeys and apes) to their counterparts in higher-level hominids as humans. Such lower-level telestians are by nature and practice delayed, fixated, or arrested in personal and/or cosmic psycho-spiritual development, more like their planetary ancestors in centuries and millennia past.

Sadly, many of the spiritually awakened earthlings were decimated in Earth’s 6th mass extinction, caught in a perfect storm of global warming, mass migrations, multiple pandemics, food shortages, and a thermonuclear war, the latter of which wiped out between 60-70% of the world’s population in only 90 minutes. Such was a series of cataclysms unprecedented in Earth’s history. However, all was not lost in the aftermath and chaos. Such planetary convulsions purged what remained of humankind’s overpopulation dilemmas, empirical-only viewpoints, archaic habits, and self-destructive ways, ushering it into its Fourth Axial Age, and Sixth spiritual (right-brain) awakening, this time along more widespread and enduring global lines. Despite the toll taken in past devastations, the relatively few inhabitants that survived and remain on Earth live more peacefully, see and think more clearly, cooperate more fully, love more deeply, and generally get along more genuinely than ever before. They now reap the fruits of their awakened maturity, heightened consciousness, and deeper sense of identity than any fundamentalist-thinking, science-centric, political ideologues who once attempted to vainly influence them back in the Dark Ages of post-modernity nearly two centuries ago. Their hope is to restore, heal, and repopulate the planet as advanced, like-minded homo sapiens lest the long-range effects of divided, left-brain dominance incline toward to the planet’s tragic default position it once operated from following the radical separation from God (celestial) toward a lower vibratory state of existence as described in the Book of Genesis.

Within this tripartite framework, contrary to theistic evolution, scientism, atheism, cosmogenesis, and process theology, Genesis makes perfectly clear how Adam (the Godkind) were originally created:

And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life: and man became a living being (Genesis 2:7).

According to the biblical account, man (generically) was created and formed OF the dust of the earth, not BY or FROM the dust of the earth; implying that dust (material/terrestrial), the corporeal part of man’s existence was but an ingredient (only) in man’s creation and formation. Dust and dust particles do not refer to a single cell or subhuman creature. Later patriarchs like Abraham and Job also realized that they too were made from and returned to that very material-terrestrial dust upon physical death. But God was not finished. The creation story continues by declaring that man was not only formed from (not by) the dust of the earth, but God breathed the breath of life into him. That breath was (a) God’s animating Spirit (light), (b) the substance of man’s material-terrestrial form, (c) the means and incarnating energy by which man became a living soul, or spirit-soul, (d) the means whereby humankind was made in God’s image, and most importantly, (e) made in God’s own undivided essence (Spirit) from the celestial realm. The New Testament also emphasizes that God gives to all humankind this same life, as well as the very same Spirit or breath (Gk., theopneustos, meaning, “God-breathed”) that inspires his prophets, messengers, teachers, and written Word in Scripture and other holy books.

The spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life (Job 32:8).

Hence, the creation of Adam in the biblical account is representative of all humankind and deals a death blow to the idea of Theistic Evolution (cosmogenesis), which teaches that God took a subhuman entity or species, developed it horizontally by evolution into a human, and later into an ultra-human phylum as cosmogenesis claims. Nonetheless, the biblical account is clear that biological life (bios) in nature, and higher life (pneuma/spirit-soul) in mankind do not originate horizontally from or by the terrestrial realm. Nor does it derive from any lower species God created that has existence in the terrestrial realm. Rather, it originates vertically (moving downward) in undivided wholes from the celestial realm giving life and breath to all things terrestrial. Whereupon, in humans, it ultimately returns vertically in like-substance upon physical death, as near-death studies confirm. In this way, beginning and end, Alpha and Omega, first and last are comprised of the same universal substance, universal constant, and embed in the same (non-local) universal locale — light (Light of the World). This uncreated light returns in wave form after embedding (incarnating) in corporeal particles from whence it came, moving from celestial to telestial to terrestrial and back as in a circuit.

To reiterate, the end is found in the beginning, and conversely, according to the biblical narrative and timeline. It doesn’t “evolve” there. As it’s an eternal and uncreated light, it aways is, was, and is to come — I AM, that IS (Exodus 3:14). This journey in and of light, and it various forms and manifestations on Earth and in the universe is as God the Father revealed it in the creation narrative ten times in Genesis 1 and is evidenced multiple times in key places throughout the biblical narrative. It is also what God the Son (Christ) proclaimed himself to be the incarnation of in the gospels, epistles, and Book of Revelation, and as God the Holy Spirit continues to make real to those who fervently ask for a vision of same, with expectant hearts and minds open to see it.

In the Judeo-Christian Scripture, there are seven references to mortals being comprised of the dust of the earth, all of them recorded in the Old Testament. Chief among them is the most frequently cited reference first appearing in the book of Genesis. It is often used at funeral services to underscore mortality, in particular the decomposition of the body, a compound material (terrestrial) substance divided into component parts, For you are dust, and unto dust you shall return (Genesis 3:19). This defines homo sapiens as primarily earthbound, material beings made of clay. By contrast there is no New Testament references to persons, in essence, being made of dust. On the contrary, with the advent of the Christ, and with him a higher level of consciousness and spiritual insight, the revelation speaks of living souls as homo elector, children and sons of light. Such is in keeping with that aspect of Teilhard’s vision that implies that a spiritual being (celestial), is eternal by its own constitution, as the spirit-soul is a simple undivided substance (whole) incapable of division, nor subject to death.

There is neither spirit or matter in the world. The stuff of the universe is spirit-matter. No other substance than this could produce the human molecule (Teilhard de Chardin).

Beyond its metaphorical meaning, references to the constituency of the Christ and his spiritual offspring as “light” identifies persons in terms of their essence embedded in a singularity, or common spiritual (celestial) ground. As to the constitution of the human frame, both senses are valid and true – metaphoric and literal, material (terrestrial) and immaterial (celestial). That is, a human’s spirit-soul is in the world of space-time (dust), but not of it (spirit). Their reconciled tensions (telestial) – flesh and spirit, left and right eye, left and right brain, define the primary components of the whole person or God-man. Such is the person awakened to being incarnated in the divine, like all earnest seekers’ past, present, and future experience it who have or will attain and become equal to it. Such is the essential task of all religion, to help awaken and reconnect (re-ligio) persons to their original origin and identity, not in dust (terrestrial), but embedded in the unified field (divine ground of light/celestial) hidden with Christ in God (Col. 3:3). Hence, the death of our physical form is not the death of our spirit-soul (personhood), which remains forever embedded (enfolded) in the Great Spirit (quantized strata/celestial) common to all of creation. Further, in making discriminations among persons as to their essential identity, this higher level (celestial) realization in consciousness, should it arise globally, would result in the inevitable conclusion that indeed “the age of nations (ethnicity) has passed,” as Teilhard maintained, and a new era would dawn, that of homo terrestrian (earthling), or for the more spiritually advanced, homo elector (children of light). But note, in keeping with sound theological doctrine, such a global state of affairs could only arise via vertical causation (celestial), not via horizontal causation (terrestrial/telestial), or cosmogenic evolution as cosmogenic notion once implied. Playing loose with foundational Christian theology puts one on a very slippery slope.

It is axiomatic that in the created order everywhere there exists a correspondence between the laws and phenomena of different planes of existence and life along tripartite lines. Meaning, as above, so below; the greater cannot come from the lesser, nor the higher from the lower, innermost and outermost. Such is divinely ordained Principle of Correspondence that human wisdom (science/scientism) has attempted to deny, contradict, and/or invert for millennia, which, despite a minority of its “flat-earth” holdovers, shall ultimately pass away.

Radical union with the highest order in life, the celestial, and the highest telestial truths associated thereof relating to the Big Story, are not to be found in creating new stories. The old wine is fine in the old bottles it has historically be preserved in. Hence, such has been discovered and rediscovered in the recurring experience of the saints and mystics of all traditions. A person doesn’t have to “evolve,” discover, or prove anything by the scientific method, nor by spinning pseudo-religio-scientific theories. Nor do they have to add to a revelation that is already perfect, and that many have given their lives to defend. They only have to retrieve and activate (awaken to) what has already been innately implanted in them at birth awaiting personal discovery, who, like Jacob, “when he awoke from his sleep” shouted “you were here all the time and I never knew it” (Genesis 28:16).

Most importantly, what has also been hiding there in plain sight all the time was the Big Picture waiting to reveal the Big Story that has ALREADY been foretold, meant only for eyes and ears open to receive it without prejudice.

Take it from a storytelling time traveler from 150 years hence who’s heard and seen them all. There is only one true story that withstands the test of time, and outlasts the best of human attempts to deny, invert, or add to it. And that one contains all the others which, as metaphors, merely point to it. Like the best of anything on Earth, the reality of this story can only be experienced, tasted firsthand, not taught via intellect in a classroom or by experiments in a laboratory. The second-best version of it, as it appears second-hand in various forms and venues elsewhere, is usually misunderstood. Earnest seekers will taste and see for themselves. The rest will judge from afar and remain in spiritual darkness, spinning countless tales and theories unawares. In the Book of Revelation, the last book of Scripture which completes the revelation to humanity prior to the Parousia, a warning is extended:

I give fair warning to all who hear the words of the prophecy of this book: If you add to the words of this prophecy, God will add to your life the disasters written in this book; if you subtract from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will subtract your part from the Tree of Life and the Holy City that are written in this book — (Revelation 22:18-19).

There is truth in humor, as well as tragedy, as Groucho’s (a.k.a. “Cosmo” Genesis) satire may have revealed. In such instances it might be wise to start from scratch, knowing nothing, as opposed to declaring something of certainty that in the final analysis amounts to less than nothing, instead bowing in reverent silence before the mystery.

The first thing which I can record concerning myself is, that I was born. These are wonderful words. This life, to which neither time nor eternity can bring diminution – this everlasting soul, began. My mind loses itself in these depths (Julius “Groucho” Marx).

About the Author

Joseph C. Masterleo, LCSW-DCSW, is a clinical social worker in private practice in Syracuse, NY and Rockledge, FL. His half-century of service in the mental health care field includes faith-based counseling, with an emphasis on psycho-spiritual integration. His subspecialty involves developing a novel paradigm for the synthesis of science, religion, and psychology, identifying the energy and geometric patterns that connect the quantum world with space-time. His model explains how spirit and matter can co-exist as two facets of one reality in a unified field, dissolving the walls of partition between previously siloed disciplines. Inspired by the writings of Thomas Merton (ecumenism), Teilhard de Chardin (synthesis), Thomas Berry (ecotheology), and others, his objective is to tell a new, future-looking story for the Ecozic Age, one that forms a connecting bridge between the biblical story of creation, modern science, and ancient cosmologies.
