Love Against the Odds

In this agonizing time, I’ve turned to essays that offer hope and consolation while facing reality. We suffer from what we see, Joanna Macy would say, because of our greatest gift as humans: compassion. I would add love to that.

I’m an optimist by nature. Even in the midst of the current cruel chaos, I can’t stop thinking that there are answers and that we will find them. That cataclysms, as difficult as they are to live through, nevertheless bring renewal and transformation in their wake.
