“Eco-apocalypse and the Unfinished Universe: Teilhard’s Evolutionary Hope”

The American Teilhard Association invites you to join us for the weekend of May 30 to June 1, 2025 at the Spirituality & Retreat Center at Daylesford Abbey in Paoli, PA for the ATA Annual Event 2025. This year’s featured speaker is Dr. Catherine Keller, Professor of Constructive Theology at The Theological School of Drew University. Her topic, “Eco-apocalypse and the Unfinished Universe: Teilhard’s Evolutionary Hope,” will help us view our ecological crisis through Teilhard’s eyes.

As the current political economy drives the planetary ecology into rapid deterioration, hopelessness may paralyze needed action. Apocalypse looms. The Teilhardian vision may read as a deluded myth of progress. Or to the contrary, might its omega offer not an optimism of progress but a hope of transformation? Might it motivate not closure good or bad, but healing dis/closure of our still possible terrestrial future?
