Judy Cannato’s Radical Amazement: Contemplative Lessons from Black Holes, Supernovas, and Other Wonders of the Universe is a call to be moved to a powerful—and “awe-full”–awareness of our universe story, our place in it, and our connectedness to All that exists within the heart of Mystery, her name for God. Cannato teaches us about such cosmic entities as light, black holes, supernovas, and dark matter and energy, offering them as fertile soil for contemplation. This marriage of science and spirituality teaches us that by being fully aware of who and what we are as citizens and children of the universe, we might open ourselves to a radical new way of being human within the Divine that is already present in and around all of us.
Through a combination of presentation, contemplative reflection, and prayerful sharing, we will explore Cannato’s book and its invitation to live contemplatively as part of a universe that is constantly evolving toward greater self-awareness, more conscious connectedness, and deeper intimacy within Holy Mystery.
