Patterns Where Invisible Forces Become Visible
A few days ago I sketched a little branch by painting each leaf with my homemade Black Walnut ink, then pressing it onto the paper. Then, with a very fine dip pen, I added details to each leaf and added the branch. Instead of a drawing of a leaf, I wanted the essential leaf imprinted to invite the experience of being aware of its beauty.
A hoar frost on my window inspired the background sketch. I love patterns where invisible forces become visible, where an invisible force expresses intelligence in a message in a language I cannot decode.
The tracks of a cat in the snow are more evidence of movement in the world I did not see but can imagine.
My goal is for art to inspire participation in nature. To recognize layers evidencing nature’s co-creative participation in the world.
