“Because it knows less, it thinks it knows everything” — Ian McGilchrist, (commenting on the left-hemisphere of the brain).

Part 4 is a summary explaining how the Cosmic or Universal Christ was originally embraced by the early church until it became supplanted by the religion of the empire serving toxic patriarchal ends for 1500 years. And it further explains how the acquisition of knowledge in western culture and education has become a more exclusive left-left brain endeavor since ancient times. This trend in education has remained prominent through various historical periods up to the present where it continues its stronghold in academic and scientific circles. In the author’s view, this combination of the original message of the Cosmic or Universal Christ having been hijacked, falsified, and replaced by institutionalized religion (clerical authority) in the west for centuries, combined with the lop-sided emphasis on left-brain development in education have been the main obstacles inhibiting the integration of science and spirituality, left and right brain, rendering humanity right-brain disordered.  [Note: for an informed resource on the significance of right brain/left-brain integration and symptoms of right-brain deficiency disorder, see Ian McGilchrist, The Master and His Message: The Divided Brain and the Making of the Western World.]

It is only through spiritually realized unitive consciousness, an exclusively right-brain phenomenon, that a cleric or educator espouses or radiates either binary views (left-brain separation consciousness) to the world, or wisdom (right-brain integration), the secret of healing and whole-making. This “disordered” state of the hemispheres keeps science and mystery divided and separate when they are seamlessly one. This chronic western “schizoidal” malady creates roadblocks that hinder integration and synthesis, allowing access to embracing the cooperation, reconciliation, and unity of paired opposites in human consciousness, in post-modern times trending toward the increasing estrangement of science and spirituality, spiritual self and natural self, left and right brain toward the proliferation of ever more a-theistic, outward-centered, scientific-materialist views (Scientism) of the created order. These developments, among others, have forestalled meaningful progress toward a spirit-science synthesis as envisioned by Teilhard. And it further inclines the human species in the direction of wandering dangerously (blindly) near the slippery slope of transhumanism as discussed below. When the left-brain tends to go it alone, things fall apart, tending toward “I-It” relationships, exclusive materialist viewpoints and worldviews, with intellectualized defenses and anger as a primary and disturbing emotion enlisted to rigidly defend same.

As paired opposites, both sides of the brain apprehend the world in radically different ways, and work best only when integrated. Selectively unattended to over time trending toward a vestigial state, the right-brain is ontologically prior in human evolution, and is more complex, insightful, and wiser. Only it, not the left-brain, is capable of experiencing the presence of the mystery of Spirit as both immanent and transcendent, seeing and knowing them as reconciled opposites without contradiction, in the process schooling the left brain on the details. Systematically de-emphasizing same as the locus and direct avenue to experiencing the divine and all created things as one, shifts the emphasis toward a more left-brain (doctrinal – intellectual – dogmatic) understanding of the God in the direction of religious belief (vs experience) in the western cultures, and inhibits the uninformed and uninitiated from accessing same immediately, directly, and without clerical, dogmatic, or in-group ceremonial intermediaries. The result of right-brain disorder/deficiency in religious circles and in education has the post-modern world myopically thinking it is advanced, when in fact it sees the world less clearly than our ancestors. And in ways that are colonizing humanity’s experience of God, truth, reality and the world in a limited, partial, and binary (siloed) way. The result is a classic example of hubris in perception and thought that has become the hallmark of both religion and education in western societies, with certainty being the primary presumptive trait of the left-brain going it alone, thinking it can see and understanding the whole without its older, wiser partner. In reality, the hubristic left-brain knows little of the whole but pretends to have the visual high ground and with it the whole picture. There is no way the divine can reach this world save through enlightened (right-brain) spiritual consciousness that enables one to see and think in wholes and all things as sacred, the key in healing, whole-making, and restoring a divided world. This world has not and will not survive a religion, philosophy, or worldview based on in-group exclusivity. Just as each culture has a different name for the sun owing to language differences, likewise each has different cultural inflexions for the same God or Spirit (universal, generative energy and information field) that embeds and transcends all things — the main message of the Cosmic Christ in uniting the varity of cultural inflexions under one bio-electrograhapic energy and information filed — one Spirit (universal power) with many apps, physical, mental, and spiritual, each the same light energy vibrating at different frequencies taking multiple forms.

Envisioning the Christ not as institutional Christianity sees him, but as a wisdom teacher whose Spirit (energy) animates and organically embeds in matter everywhere democratizes the definition of divinity and the mission of the Universal Christ, broadening it worldwide. If one’s essence and depth is Spirit, then so is their deeper identity in it awaitng activation in the interior life via wisdom teachers likewise initiated into the mysteries of the interplay of light and darkness, spirit and soul (spirit-soul), or soul and material body.

So transfigured and initiated, the Cosmic Christ came as the transformative initiator of others toward spiritual self-discovery or God identity — not to found a new religion called Christianity, but to unite them all as operating under one power that he showed mastery over in all of its forms (apps). This radical view of the Cosmic Christ is entirely consistent with the “alternative orthodoxy” tradition that goes back nearly two millennia. This truly catholic (smallc’) view of Scripture began with a few Eastern Fathers, namely Origen of Alexandria (A.D. 184-253) and Maximus the confessor (A.D. 590-682). The original word catholic contained in the Apostle’s Creed, means “universal” or “comprehensive,” in keeping with the more inclusive understanding of Jesus of Galilee who became what has since been referred to as the Cosmic Christ or Universal Christ. This definition has little in common with the Roman Catholic Church’s (large ‘C’) notions of spirituality as an exclusive, monolithic, sectarian belonging system established by the Emperor Constantine dating back to 313 A.D. The alternative orthodoxy view of the Eastern Fathers is consistent with the Pauline epistles, Teilhard’s cosmogenic model as conveyed in the Divine Milieu, this blog series, Ilia Delio’s book on The Emergent Christ, the Cosmic/Universal Christ books of Matthew Fox (1988) and Richard Rohr (2019) respectively, and the author’s spirit-science paradigm in The Ambient Christ (2019).

While confirming same theologically, the apostle Paul, Teilhard, Delio, Fox, and Rohr stopped short of identifying the spirit-science nexus Teilhard’s ultra-physics vision points to, which the world has been awaiting 75 years, or since Teilhard’s death. When established, the scientific evidence will round out the juridical aspects of the gospel message (salvation, judgement, redemption, forgiveness, etc.), the former being compatible with the latter in a full-orbed way.

The author’s work seeks to identify the organic nature of the Cosmic Christ embedded in matter everywhere, the so-called “third nature” of Christ, presenting a psychophysical or bio-electrographic -panspychic-democratizing perspective, embedding the Spirit in matter universally, and with-it affirming the divine presence as everywhere and in all things. Once scientifically verified as the organic nature of Christ, Teilhard’s synthesis vision will be fulfilled, showing where, how, and by what energy, substance (electromagnetism = light), and dynamisms the material and spiritual worlds seamlessly annex. As Teilhard explained it, this synthesis is to be the hallmark of the Christogenic stage, the one prior to Omega and after Collective Noogenesis (see graphic above). More than all the others, this stage of cosmogenesis has to do with spiritual-self or spiritualidentity formation, leading to the consummating capstone on Teilhard’s cosmogenic model.

Toward that end the Cosmic Christ taught others how to access this cosmic or universal Spirit, thereby discovering their deeper cosmic origins and identity in the divine that is consistent with Big Bang cosmology, outlining a path leading to spiritual consciousness realized as a direct and immediate experience, without intermediary (priests, bishops, or an ecclesial hierarchy). This was a threat to the authority and power structures in the Hebraic tradition that he came to fulfill, as well as the religion of the empire that followed in the Romish tradition post-Constantine 313 AD. Those traditions saw his original role, identity, and teaching as a threat to their system of authority, control and theological dogma. The latter teachings bore little resemblance to what the Cosmic Christ taught the disciples, and revolved around Peter in Rome, who allegedly became the first bishop there, and whose office was cemented in perpetuity by political fiat (a Romish sleight-of-hand), not by divine decree.  Having built his church with himself as the chief cornerstone, not Peter, the Christ never entrusted himself fully to men “for he himself knew what was in man” that was corruptible and could so taint and misrepresent his name and office. This was attested to by numerous corruptions following by the papal authority and ecclesial hierarchy over 1500 years, including aid given the Nazis and other war criminals escaping to S. America post WWII through an underground network known as the Ratlines.

Yet another corrupting influence resulted in the censoring of many of the early writings of his disciples that were excluded from the New Testament canon. Scholars estimate that around 90% of the early literature on the teachings of Jesus was destroyed. The systematic suppression of his basic teachings which remained (since discovered in the Nag Hammadi Scrolls), served to strengthen the existing politico-religious power structures after his ascension, increasing a dependency on external authority, clergy, and institutions — not on his teachings, or his presence within and all around everyone. By cleverly shifting the locus in the search for God outside of persons, instead of within and around them as the Christ originally taught (within right-brain loci) those seeking spiritual truth were hindered in their personal activation and appropriation of same as a spiritual experience and ongoing living relationship. The Cosmic Christ came not as a religionist, or a philosopher, but to teach a radical spiritual truth and simple devotional practices that lead, literally, to a quantum leap in consciousness.

The original mystical teachings are more widely available for scrutiny in today’s Information Age, but during the time of Constatine and for 1500 years thereafter the institutional teachings of Rome were the opposite of what were contained in the censured manuscripts, and what Constantine and others required to maintain stability and control of the masses, which to this day remain a stranglehold on religious unawares. With ancient texts deemed heretical and destroyed, their teachers persecuted into extinction, belief became emphasized over experience, church doctrine over direct knowing, and institutional authority over individual empowerment. Further, this widespread censuring was enforced by the Inquisition, and its repressive policies of intimidation, imprisonment, torture, and execution. Meanwhile, the faithful were taught that they were separated from God and needed the institutional church to bridge that gap, implementing one of the greatest cover-up stories in history.

All this to suppress, censor, and serially re-crucify a simple consciousness teacher who saw into the future, and well understood that humanity’s problems could only be solved through a fundamental shift in consciousness, overcoming the mind’s tendency to create the illusion of separation via dualistic thinking, a sinking (collapse) in awareness to more exclusive sense-bound, left-brain ways of seeing and knowing that became widespread during the Enlightenment, and solidified in the Age of Scientific Materialism where the  scientific, academic, and medical Vatican of our times continue their authoritative influence on full-orbed ways of knowing the big picture via unitive consciousness of spiritual awakening and realization.

In the original teachings the Cosmic Christ leveled the playing field of spiritual power and experience by making what he came to proclaim freely accessible to all, as a spiritual “way-shower” making religious and political hierarchies and their respective roles obsolete. Along with the prophets, most of whom were likewise murdered for speaking truth to religious and political power, the Cosmic Christ experienced toxic patriarchal power and control structures in the Old Testament economy and wisely sought to distance himself and his own teachings from same. As recorded in the four gospels, and subsequent censored sacred writings, he did everything he could to dissuade the disciples from their misguided intentions to make him the figurehead of yet another religion, or to have anything to do with creating and multiplying external forms, structures, and dependencies other than those he sought to awaken and build internally, within their own hearts, minds, spirit-souls, relationships, and communities.

Hence, identifying the organic component in matter in these 4 blog entries strengthens, updates, and re-universalizes the original gospel message as intended by the Cosmic Christ prior to its various sectarian renditions that have held for over two millennia, save for that conveyed by the Eastern Church (Early Church Fathers and Mothers in Egypt, Palestine, and Syria). These Eastern luminaries understood from the start that the historical Jesus was the union of Spirit and matter, fully human and fully divine, a visible blueprint immersed in a dynamic invisible reality (Spirit/energy) that undergirds all things everywhere, hidden there said the Cosmic Christ, “like leaven in bread” (Matt. 13:33).

This perspective and its tradition were later understood and preserved by Francis of Assisi (1181-1226) and continued with John Duns Scotus (1266-1308), who put it in philosophical form. In addition, several well-known mystics emerged in the Middle-Ages to carry on the early gospel tradition, including both men and women who contributed significantly to spiritual thought and mystical practice. Key figures include Hildegard of Bingen, Meister Eckhart, Julian of Norwich, Clare of Assisi, Benard of Clairvaux, and Thomas A. Kempis.

In addition to embracing the Cosmic Christ as universally embodying the eternal, the Eastern Fathers, Mothers and mystics, like the apostles before them, saw in, beyond, and through him as peering through a lens. That Jesus lens (mandorla) offered a glimpse and experience of the universal matrix (Latin, mater = mother) from which the entire created order generates, exists, and coheres in ongoing fashion from an eternal beginning (John 1:1). In this tradition the historical Jesus is not limited to a single, historically localized personage, nor is Christ Jesus’s last name. This ancient version of the gospel augments the argument for Christ being cosmic and universal in nature, scope, and substance, consistent with what Jesus taught, Teilhard believed, and the apostle Paul introduced in his epistles.

The apostle Paul met the risen Christ firsthand; not in the historical Jesus, but as everyone must, as a personal awakening experience who reveals his non-local (omnipresent) identity within and all around them. And to the relatively few today who, like Teilhard, recognize him as the Cosmic or Universal Christ that fills all things everywhere innermost and outermost. As a Pharisee in the Hebraic tradition Paul was a lettered scholar, unlike most of the disciples who Scripture declares were “simple, unlearned, and ignorant men” many of whom did not know the alphabet. It was Paul who fully recognized the worldwide significance of the Cosmic Christ’s divine office in keeping with the Abrahamic covenant and prophetic teachings that declared all the nations of the earth would be blessed by his arrival — Jew and Gentile. Further, it was Paul who spread that message to the world, while the remaining disciples quarreled over whether followers of the Christ must first become Jews like themselves, and/or follow the Judaic dietary and circumcision laws. And it was Paul who established the mystical foundation for the organic reality (Spirit) that everyone participates in, but not everyone is aware of, save the spiritually awakened and mystical initiates who can teach and guide others toward an awareness of same. And Paul wrote the theology of it all brilliantly with detailed universal application in the NT Book of Romans.

This same cosmic organic notion of the Christ proclaimed by Paul was later embraced by Teilhard in the latter’s three favorite Pauline texts — In him all things hold together (Col. 1:17), He fills all things (Col. 2:10), Christ is all and in all (Eph. 4:9). Like Paul, Teilhard intuited that the universe is “Christified,” whereby God descends into nature to super-animate it and unite it to himself everywhere, as brain to neuron. Today, via the discovery of hidden cross-rotating electromagnetic energy and information fields that interface with nature, humankind has just begun to scratch the surface on the organic nature, substance, and dynamics of how this hidden mystery embodies in material creation.

Only a direct personal experience and inner spiritual transformation can bring nondual or unitive consciousness home to persons, thus enabling them to establish the kind of “both/and” perception that sees and thinks in wholes, and whole-parts, reconciling creation’s unreconciled cavalcade of paired opposites detailed in Parts 1-3 of this blog series. Only non-dual thinking can lay them side-by-side while holding their tensions in balance — like religion and science, male and female, Jew and Gentile, radial and tangential energy, etc. As an interior requisite, this and only this will be the convergent hallmark of true Christogenic evolution, preparatory for its capstone in Omega.

Universalizing the Christ does for spirituality what Copernicus did for astronomy, Edison did for electricity, Ford for transportation, or the Wright Bros for air travel. It presents the Cosmic Christ as having come not to found a new religion, but to transform and initiate persons into the deeper mystery of their identity in the universal substance of all visible form as light beings and light workers. Likewise, as revealed by his own panpsychic selfidentifier — the Light of the World — its “Alpha and Omega, first and last, beginning and end” contained in the ancient writings (Rev. 1:8, 21:6, 22:13). These three titles emphasize the Cosmic Christ was at the beginning of all things and will be at the end, signifying his eternal nature and role as both Creator and the culminatior of history. Physics refers to same in energic terms, the cross-rotating generative (electromagnetic) energy and information field that creates, maintains, and sustains all things from nothing, from the zero-point field. Such also referenced as “Spirit” by indigenous peoples and religious worldwide. A mystery phenomenon by any other name, in any other culture, science, philosophy, or religion, is still the same.

Again, this ancient perspective on the nature of Christ as Cosmic (non-local) lends itself to a broader view of the eternal as spread over the entire created order, inside and out. More importantly, it coincides with recent discoveries in physics as to the makeup of the universe at the quantum level and beyond, and perhaps other interdimensional mystery phenomena presented in this series and elsewhere.

This 4-part blog series on The Scientific Basis for Christogenesis references what appears to be the best scientific data to date in the three cases featured, citing 28 more instances (and counting) in nature and the cosmos where cross-rotating electromagnetic (light) energy and information fields spin-spiral their geometric signatures via plasma vortices into the fabric of the created order at all scales, innermost and outermost.

More significantly, in the future this scientific discovery may reverse the dangerous, a-theistic “left-brain-only” Enlightenment trend exacerbated in the late 17th century, when another radical shift occurred in western education firmly solidified whole-brain to left-brain thinking that became the dominant educational framework to the present, especially in science, math, and standardized testingthe religion of scientism. The author and those of his generation, unawares, were nurtured on it in so-called “higher education,” a subtle form of selective inattention to the whole, conditioned consciousness, and mind control. Such tends to privilege knowledge that can be codified, divided, and reduced to discrete units favored over embodied, integrative, and experiential knowing — quanta over qualia. Such codified knowledge, however, is just the tip of the iceberg, a tiny segment of the bandwidth the whole consists of attained by fullaccess knowing – combining rational, transrational, and intuitive thought in unitive consciousness (see the author’s July 2025 blog entry on The Trysting Place).

The proposed model presented here and in The Ambient Christ re-establishes intellectual honesty in education and spirituality, presenting scientia (science) and sapientia (wisdom) alongside one another in a reconciling way, as they were in the Classic and Renaissance era, where qualia and quanta, heart and head, spirit and soul, radial and tangential energy, mystery and science, experience and data, metaphysics and classical physics have a coequal and balanced place in understanding and unifying the order of things — with the laurel wreath given to qualia, the quantum cart following the qualia horse in that order. In the ontological order of things, science is to take its proper place as tributary, the handmaid of Spirit, just as the early pioneers in science intended. (see above pic # 2). In ontology, the higher cannot proceed from the lower, nor the greater the lesser. Reversing these two paired opposites, higher and lower orders, spirit and matter, spirit and soul, create a blind spot or distortion in perception and thought as to which of the two is figural (primary/causal), and which is background (secondary/effect).

The brain must decide what the central or foreground object is (the figure/causal) and what is simply the background (the ground/effect). Without engaging both sides of the brain, distinguishing, ordering, or organizing them can be confusing. And reconciling them becomes impossible. When the left-brain only takes charge, it naturally reverses the ontological order of things according to its bias, a perceptual process where the brain actively switches between two possible interpretations, ignoring the right-brain’s correct input on the proper figure/ground order, forming a clear, whole perception which is not only different, but backward — the equivalent of calling “up” as “down,” or “white” as “black” and conversely. In reversing the ontological order, cart is put before horse, quanta before qualia, material over spiritual on the scale of perception, meaning, and value.

The discipline that studies such figure ground reversals is the Gestalt school of psychology. It is important to distinguish a reversing of the ontological order of things as Gestaltzerfall, which means “Gestalt collapse” in German, describing a breakdown of perception and thought where the brain loses its ability to organize a whole, and instead sees only individual, meaningless parts out of their larger context, the cause of Left-brain Deficiency Disorder (LBDD), the author’s clinical description of same.

In the clinical nomenclature, a breakdown or collapse in perception and thought are the distinguishing features of the schizoid, schizo-form, or schizophrenic disorders. In the spiritual nomenclature, the mind that is thus ordered is known as the “carnal mind,” “natural man,” or the sense-bound “conditioned mind,” which is “at enmity with God, and not subject to the law of God, nor can it be,” and naturally works contrary or in opposition to those higher laws (Romans 8:7).

This Copernican re-shuffling of things may even forestall exclusive left-brain susceptibility to future generations becoming inextricably entangled (further addicted to) left-brain computer and AI technology resources when assimilated and fused into human tissue, tending toward transhumanism, the evolution of half-human cyborg mutants creating a world of Spocklike inhabitants. Unregulated, transhumanism has the potential to render the right brain extinct, and with-it humanity as it was once known, in a single generation. The development, research and potential application of brain-computer interface technology (BCI), such as the one developed by Neuralink, is currently the subject of ethical debate, and bears watching. Currently there are no definitive worldwide laws established to regulate the application or invasive misuse of this futuristic technology, particularly with advances in psychotronic weaponry (Havana Syndrome) and the invisible penetration of solid surfaces by sophisticated means developed and weaponized by the military decades ago that have no visible means of detection.

Mechanical, it is, and Orwellian. Can you imagine introducing a loved one as a “quantum mechanics entity?” — or as your “cross-rotating electromagnetic energy and info field” unit or partner? For those with an intimate spiritual connection with omnipresent Spirit, can you further imagine regarding God as an “It,” an impersonal energy entity, say, like the Milky Way or the Aurora Borealis? This is what the religion of Scientism has done to estranging humanity’s intimate and most sacred interconnection to God, self, nature, and others.

The author anticipates that the model presented here in 4 Parts, and in The Ambient Christ is years ahead of its time in acceptance and/or application, if at all. That is the way discovery works in science and synthesis, moving at a snail’s pace vs the resistant interior structures of the historically conditioned mind, and institutional forms of religion that the Cosmic Christ came to make obsolete. Yet a snail’s pace is hardly a match for technological change and environmental unsustainability that continues to increase at exponential rates globally. Simply put, the world and its peoples cannot survive human thinking and scientific worldviews that pivot largely on left-brain forms of separation consciousness, nor can it survive institutional forms of religion and their in-groupings. Such was the original, unvarnished message of the Cosmic Christ, which largely unrecognized, still holds today.

As human consciousness expands and elevates along unitive, future-looking ways, it will become increasingly clear that spirituality and consciousness involve the physics this current generation was just beginning to understand and therefore was not ready to accept or employ for the betterment of Earth and its inhabitants. The dogmas of today are the illusions of tomorrow. We can only hope that when/if this is realized in global awareness that time has not run out in accelerating the evolution of mankind toward Christogenesis herein defined, resulting in the healing of the Earth and its peoples as Teilhard envisioned.

As an unknown physicist working as a clerk in a patent office, no one recognized the significance of Einstein’s published papers on special relativity until physicist Max Planck read and noticed their profound implications. Planck, the leading physicist of his day, brought Einstein’s groundbreaking notions to the attention of the wider scientific community, paving the way for further development.

Einstein was the Enlightenment poster child of his era, having made unparalleled future-looking scientific contributions, via the media becoming science’s first rock star of his day. Teilhard was less heralded, having worked mostly alone, under constant surveillance, censorship, and excommunication threats of his religious order and the Vatican. Three-times exiled, his synthesis ideas went unpublished until after his death in 1955, ironically, only eight days prior to Einstein’s passing. Being a mystic given to unitive consciousness, Teilhard was deft at combining analysis and synthesis, holding the tension of paired contraries together, like science and spirituality, enough to lay the groundwork for those who followed to carry on his synthesis work.

Though a brilliant visual thinker, Einstein had no unitive consciousness, and hence little tolerance for paradoxes and contradictions in science. Thus, he was driven to solve them mathematically in elegant one-inch equations, an approach that was unsuccessful trying to unify cosmic and atomic scales (big things and small things), the last 30 years of his life. He did not know then, nor could he entertain the notion that consciousness is fundamental, rendering math and science emergent realities, mere effects, not causal, and that a unified field theory would one day fall to another whose time, like his own and that of Teilhard’s, would sooner come.

Perhaps a spirit-science synthesis with scientific evidence toward reconciling paired contraries will be universally accepted, one that is timely, truly Christogenic in nature, and harmonizes with all fields of knowledge including the arts. If so, it may launch the world into a new era of unparalleled unity in ways never before imagined. At worst, it may motivate synthesis innovators to think along more holistic lines toward that end in their ideas, research, and influences.

About the Author

Joseph C. Masterleo, LCSW-DCSW, is a clinical social worker in private practice in Syracuse NY, and Rockledge FL. His half-century of service in the mental health care field includes faith-based counseling, with an emphasis on psycho-spiritual integration. His subspecialty involves developing a novel paradigm for the synthesis of science, religion, and psychology, identifying the energy and geometric patterns that connect the quantum world with space-time. His model explains how spirit and matter can co-exist as two facets of one reality in a unified field, dissolving the walls of partition between previously siloed disciplines. Inspired by the writings of Thomas Merton (ecumenism), Teilhard de Chardin (synthesis), Thomas Berry (ecotheology), Nikola Telsa (electromagnetism), and others, his objective is to tell a new, future-looking story for the Ecozoic Age, one that forms a connecting bridge between the biblical story of creation, modern science, and ancient cosmologies. His columns on these and related subjects have appeared on websites such as The Center for Christogenesis, Progressive Christianity, and in newsprint via The Goodnews Paper, the Syracuse Post Standard, and the Syracuse Sports Magazine, where he comments on sports as reflecting the best and worst of American character and culture.
