Hidden Heart of the Universe Study Group report by Stephan Martin

This May, fifty-three Deeptime Network members from around the world met for a six-week study group of Brian Swimme’s transformative book The Hidden Heart of the Cosmos. With people coming together from across the US, to the UK, and even as far away as China and the Philippines, we formed a tight-knit community that explored the results of modern cosmology and science as an emerging wisdom tradition. Through meditations, lectures, group discussion and sharing we explored topics such as being in touch with the origin of the universe in each moment, seeing each of us as a place where the universe is expressing and deepening its creative potential, and finding ourselves as expressions of a great cosmic story 13.8 billion years in the making. As we journeyed together over the course of each week’s material, we were continually surprised at the depth of our interaction together and the insights that continued to arise as we engaged with the topics with our hearts as well as our minds. By the end of our time together, people reported that they felt they had not only learned a great deal about cosmology and science, but that they had been on a journey of transformation that shifted how they experienced themselves in their lives and communities.

But don’t take my word for it! Here’s what some of the participants had to say:

I feel that Deeptime is a group of pioneers that are ushering in a revolution that will transform the world and help evolve it to its next level. I feel privileged to be able to be a part of this group and to be able to contribute something towards the transformation.   Sarbmeet Kanwal, Holmdel, NJ

The reading and group discussion expanded the horizons of the universe for me in a breathtaking way.  Dan Troy, Hong Kong

I thought this was a great course. it helped us see the universe and ourselves in a new way, in a way that sees us all as interconnected and one. It is a needed perspective in this age of division and alienation. I think it is critical for ourselves and the planet for people to be exposed to this new world view in this kind of a supporting and nurturing environment.  Bruce McGraw, San Diego, CA

You and I are stardust! You and I are the center of the Universe!  Sheryl Morris, Caldwell, ID

Stephen is clearly scientifically trained and knowledgable to talk elegantly about scientific discoveries, but very open and curious about non-newtonian world-views activated by wonder and awe. The class evokes spine-tingling reverence for a completely stupendous universe.  James Long, El Cahon, CA

We experienced a community becoming deeply engaged and excited as the new cosmology is explored and understood.  Mary Coelho, Cambridge, MA

Thank you for the on-line availability of all these courses.  Anne Marie Raftery, South Attleboro, MA
